Brain vs. IQ Essay - 825 Words
Brain vs. IQ (Essay Sample) Content: Name:Instructor:Course title:Date of submission:Brain vs. IQIntroductionThe impact of brain size on IQ has been the cause of massive debate in the academic circles. Proponents argue that a large brain size has a positive correlation with an enhanced IQ. However, critics assert that brain size has little or no effect on the level of IQ. Therefore, an individual with a large brain will not necessarily have a high IQ. The argument that has been brought forth entails that animals with a large brain do not necessarily have a high IQ. A case example of elephants and whales has been provided. While these animals have a much larger brain in comparison to that of man, their IQ has not surpassed that of man. On the other hand, the mouse argument has to be given adequate regard. Mice have somewhat equal body to brain index to man. However, the presumption is that manà ¢Ã¢â ¬s IQ is much greater than that of mice. The research that will be undertaken herein has been endeavored to provide deep insight on this issue. The idea is to enable inferences to be made thereby settling the debate that has been perpetuated for so long. The data that will be used to inform this study is first hand data. However, this data set is limited in regard to the degree of generalization. The study sample is 40 respondents. SPSS tool for statistical analysis will be used to undertake the analysis of the data that has been collected.AnalysisGraphical methodsIQFigure 1.1: Male IQFigure 1.2: Female IQFrom the graphs that have been sourced from SPSS, it is apparent that there are trivial differences between the Male and female IQs.
